People's Picks (November 1-4)

The middle school teacher of the week is Ms. Paula Davidson. Ms. Davidson said that her favourite thing about teaching is the students because they make everyday different and exciting. She said that she had a lot of trick or treaters this year; over 70! Ms. P. Davidson's advice to all of her students is to always be kind to others and don't ever take your life for granted. We asked Ms. Davidson what is something that she wants her students to know about her, she said, "I want them to know how great I think each and everyone of them are. I love my job because of them."



The middle school student of the week is Tessa Munn. Tessa got student of the week because she is always helping the other students, and she is very kind. Tessa had a lot of fun on Halloween this year trick or treating with all of her friends. Tessa's favourite class in school is Home Economics, she thinks that it is really interesting.




The staff member of the week is Educational Assistant Bonnie MacRae. Bonnie's favourite thing about working at the school is all of the students. Bonnie wants all of the students to know that they can always come to her if they ever need anything no matter how big or small. Her advice to the students is to stay in school and to further your education after high school, so you can do whatever you want in life.

People's Picks (October 17-21)


The elementary student of the week is Tally Luce in grade 4M. Mrs. McLean chose Tally to be the student of the week because she helps other people without being asked. Tally loves to watch Sponge Bob. This year Tally is going to be a Zombie for Halloween. Tally was very excited to be this week's student of the week. 






The elementary teacher of the week is Mrs. Norton. Mrs Norton's favourite part about being a teacher is getting to spend lots of time with all of the little boys and girls. Mrs. Norton's favourite TV show is This Is Us. Mrs. Norton's favourite thing about the fall season is watching all of the trees turn pretty colours. Mrs. Norton was very excited to be the elementary teacher of the week. 





The Blackville School staff member of the week is Brent Wilson. Brent's favourite thing about working at this school is that he gets to torment all of the student and staff members. Brent loves to watch the TV show American Pickers. On his spare time Brent loves to sleep, and he also loves to spend time with his grandson, Tristen. Brent was very proud to be the staff member of the week.

Staff Appreciation Week

This week Blackville School celebrated Staff Appreciation Week.

The Blackville Home and School Association expressed their appreciation with snacks for the staff during the week along with a potluck lunch on Thursday.

People's Picks (Nov. 30-Dec. 04)

Staff member of the week is Jamie. Jamie is a loved staff member here at Blackville School. After school when she goes home she likes to lay back with her feet up and relax. Her favourite type of music is country and her favourite colour is purple. She said that there's nothing in particular that she wants from Santa for Christmas. 
The teacher of the week is Mrs. Hallihan. She is a very caring and loving teacher here in our elementary. The students love her as a teacher. After school she enjoys going home and spending lots of time with her grandkids. She also loves good old country music. Her favourite colour is purple, and the only thing she wants for christmas is to be healthy and have fun with family and friends. 
Kenley Estey is in Mrs. Norton's kindergarten class. Kenley enjoys watching TV and the colour purple. Kenley is a very good hard working student! Kenley asked Santa for makeup for Christmas this year.

New Mountain Bike Club Enjoys End of Season Run

Mr. Paul Mackinnon, a new staff member to the Physical Education Department at Blackville School, started a Mountain Bike Club this fall for grades 6, 7 and 8.

When he found out that he would be coming to Blackville School he was really excited because he wanted to start a bike club to teach young bikers the skills and how to drive a bike properly.

When he started at MVHS in 1998 he began a biking club and did it for the next 13 years. He enjoys teaching the students how to drive mountain bikes.

He has also taught grades 4 and 5 how to drive mountain bikes while teaching at MVHS.

The Mountain Biking Club met once a week this fall with regular attendance of 9-12 members.

Mackinnon provides bikes and helmets for each rider, but they are also allowed to bring their own bikes.

The bikers recently had an end of the season run to French Fort Cove on Thursday, October 22, 2015.

People's Picks (Oct 12-16)


Student off the week is Amber Walls. Amber is a hard working student who tries her best in class. She is also respectful to teachers and fellow students.




 Teacher of the week is Ms. Duffy.  She works great with all of her students and is a respected teacher. She would like to thank all of her friends, family and students for being selected as teacher of the week. 






Staff member of the week is Ms. Breau. She is a great guidance counsellor and helps all students to the best of her ability. She is well liked by the students here at Blackville School.

People's Picks (Oct 5- 9)

Student of the Week is Samuel Brennan.  Sam is a hard
working student who tries his best in all of his classes.  He is also 
respectful and nice to all of his teachers and peers.  






Teacher of the Week is Mr. Norton.  Mr. Norton is a great all around teacher who is loved by all his students. He is also known for having a meter stick by his side at all times.





Staff of the week is Brent Wilson.  Brent is a janitor at Blackville School and works hard to keep our school clean.  He is also very polite and funny with students.

People's Picks (October 13-17)

The student of the week goes to Justin Donahue. His favourite class is Co-op. Water Polo is his favourite sport. He is from Blackville. In his spare time he likes to cruise around.

This week's teacher is Mr. Carter. He has been teaching for 12 years. His favourite subjects to teach are Journalism, English, and History. He went to university at UNB and St. Thomas for his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education and Memorial University for his Master of Education.

The staff member of the week is Loretta Gorbett. Her favourite class is law. Loretta is from Blackville. In her spare time she enjoys coaching and traveling.

People's Picks (October 6-10)

Peoples Pick's Student of the Week is Laura Colford. Laura is from Blackville (Howard Road). Her favourite class is gym and enjoys spending her spare time playing soccer, which is also her favourite sport. Congratulations to Laura for being selected the student of the week!




Peoples Pick's Staff of the Week is Brent Wilson. Brent is from Blackville (Howard Road). Brent's favourite sport is baseball, and he enjoys watching it and resting in his spare time. Congratulations to Brent for being selected staff of the week!
Peoples Pick's Teacher of the Week is Mr. Mason. Mr. Mason has been teaching for 18 years and teaches Phys Ed in elementary and middle school. Mr. Mason graduated from the University of New Brunswick. Congratulations to Mr. Mason for being selected teacher of the week!

People's Picks!

Student of the Week
This week's student of the week goes out to Taylor Gillespie. Taylor is a hard working grade 12 student. She was nominated by Mr. Grattan for her hard work in her shop class.
Teacher of the Week

Teacher of the week goes out to Mrs. Trudy Underhill. We asked Mrs. Underhill what she likes best about her job and she said, "The best part of my job is the students. The students at BHS are awesome." We also asked her what she likes to do in her spare time. She said, "spending time with Hayley and Owen."


Staff of the Week
This week's staff of the week is Andrea Donohue. Andrea won staff of the week for her extra hard work helping the high school student council and the high school students with their Christmas formal. Andrea works hard during school and also after school on her own time.

Mr. Johnston has Beard Dyed for Josie Foundation Fundraising Efforts

A teacher at Blackville School got a makeover in recognition of the school's fundraising campaign for the Josie Foundation.

Mr. Johnston pledged to have his beard (and eyebrows) dyed if the students and staff could raise $500 for the Josie Foundation. Almost $500 was raised at the middle school dance on Thursday evening, November 28, and other fundraising efforts are continuing into next week.

The Josie Foundation is a non-profit organization whose aim is to establish, receive and maintain a fund for the relief of economic hardship for individuals (families) within the Miramichi area who may be encountering financial difficulty as a result of chronic illness.

The Josie Foundation's colour is a dark maroon, however purple was used to make his beard colour even more dramatic.
