People's Picks (November 1-4)

The middle school teacher of the week is Ms. Paula Davidson. Ms. Davidson said that her favourite thing about teaching is the students because they make everyday different and exciting. She said that she had a lot of trick or treaters this year; over 70! Ms. P. Davidson's advice to all of her students is to always be kind to others and don't ever take your life for granted. We asked Ms. Davidson what is something that she wants her students to know about her, she said, "I want them to know how great I think each and everyone of them are. I love my job because of them."



The middle school student of the week is Tessa Munn. Tessa got student of the week because she is always helping the other students, and she is very kind. Tessa had a lot of fun on Halloween this year trick or treating with all of her friends. Tessa's favourite class in school is Home Economics, she thinks that it is really interesting.




The staff member of the week is Educational Assistant Bonnie MacRae. Bonnie's favourite thing about working at the school is all of the students. Bonnie wants all of the students to know that they can always come to her if they ever need anything no matter how big or small. Her advice to the students is to stay in school and to further your education after high school, so you can do whatever you want in life.

People's Picks (Jan.4-8)

Student of the week is the one and only Ashlyn Moody! Ashlyn helps out with many events and activities at Blackville School. You can always find her in the student council room with her bright happy always smiling personality. She is an outstanding student in academics. For Christmas all she wanted was peace, love and happiness. Her resolution for the new year is to live a more stress free life. Her favourite part of Christmas vacation was all the relaxing. For the new year she is looking forward to graduation. Her best memory from 2015 was going to China.
Ms. Trevors is yet another wonderful teacher here at Blackville School. She is a hard working high school and elementary teacher. For Christmas, Santa brought Ms. Trevors lots of clothes and great memories with family and friends. Her resolution for the new year is to be more active. Her favourite part of the Christmas vacation was relaxing with her family and friends. She also said her favorite memory from 2015 was when her niece graduated from high school; she is very proud of her.

Staff member of the week is Sonya Jardine. She is a very nice lady who is always friendly to everybody at Blackville School. She is a hard working educational assistant. For Christmas, Santa gave Sonya a new fire place. Her resolution for the new year is to eat healthier. Her favourite part of Christmas break was relaxing. Sonya is looking forward to spring and her favourite memory from 2015 was vacationing with her kids.

People's Picks (Dec. 7-11)

Teacher of the week is Ms. Underhill. Ms. Underhill is a great teacher that is well liked by the students. Sometimes, if you're lucky, she'll even give you candy. So make sure to stop in for a say! For Christmas, she said she would love to get clothes. Her favourite type of music is country music and her song is "Amnesia." Also her favourite colour is blue.
Staff member of the week is Mrs. Moody. Mrs. Moody works great with her students and is always around in case you need someone to talk to. Ask Philip Underhill about her. He'll tell you that she is a very nice lady. He spends more time in her class then in his actual class. For Christmas all she wants is for her friends to be healthy and happy. Her favourite colour is blue. Her favourite type of of music is rock, and her favourite band is Aerosmith.
Delanie is student of the week. Ms. Coughlan is a hard working and funny grade 10 student. She is always in good spirits. Her favourite colours are pink and green. Her favourite type of music is "Kenny and Dolly's Christmas."

People's Picks (Nov. 30-Dec. 04)

Staff member of the week is Jamie. Jamie is a loved staff member here at Blackville School. After school when she goes home she likes to lay back with her feet up and relax. Her favourite type of music is country and her favourite colour is purple. She said that there's nothing in particular that she wants from Santa for Christmas. 
The teacher of the week is Mrs. Hallihan. She is a very caring and loving teacher here in our elementary. The students love her as a teacher. After school she enjoys going home and spending lots of time with her grandkids. She also loves good old country music. Her favourite colour is purple, and the only thing she wants for christmas is to be healthy and have fun with family and friends. 
Kenley Estey is in Mrs. Norton's kindergarten class. Kenley enjoys watching TV and the colour purple. Kenley is a very good hard working student! Kenley asked Santa for makeup for Christmas this year.

People's Picks (Nov. 23-27)


Teacher of the week is "Grampy" Mr. Grattan. With that white head and serious face he shows that he has lots of experience. Which is why he was picked. Mr. Grattan's favourite show is Criminal Minds and he enjoys country music. After school his favourite thing to do is to go home. His best friend is his wife Brenda. Last but not least, his favourite hobby is to ride his motorcycle.



Student of the week is Sarah Jardine. Sarah is currently a grade 11 student at Blackville School. Her favourite show/movie is The Vow. After school Sarah likes to watch TV. Sarah's favourite song is She's With Me and her best friend is Kailey Donovan. Her favourite hobby is doing hair.

Staff member of the week is Diana. Diana is an amazing janitor here and her work is extremely appreciated. She works hard to keep our school clean. Diana's best friend is her fellow staff member, Brent Wilson. After school she enjoys laying back on the couch and watching TV. Her favourite movie is the Christmas movie Elf. Diana's favourite type of music is country, and her favourite hobby is ATVing.

People's Picks (Nov.16-20)

Student of the week is Ava Walls. Ava is in Mrs. Manderville's class. She enjoys the TV show Hotel Transylvania, and she likes the colour pink. Her favourite food is pizza, and after school she likes to play soccer. 

Teacher of the week is Ms. Hogan. Ms. Hogan is a very focused teacher here in our elementary. She is good with all of her students and works hard. She likes the TV series The Walking Dead. After school is done for the day, she enjoys going home and taking her dog for walks. Ms. Hogan's favourite food is spaghetti, and she likes the colour purple. 

Staff member of the week is Tammy Donavan. Tammy is a dedicated hard working staff member here at Blackville School. She is a very nice person. Her favourite TV show is The Walking Dead. She also enjoys pizza and the colour purple. She also likes to read.

People's Picks (Nov.9-14)

Student of the week is Cassidy Jay. Cassidy is a grade 12 student here at Blackville School. Cassidy's favourite colour is purple, and she loves tacos. After school Cassidy likes to watch Netflix, and her favourite show is Grey's Anatomy. 
Teacher of the week is Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter is a great easy going teacher who is well liked by the students. After school he likes to walk his "beasts" (dogs), tend to his garden and do yard work. His favourite colour is blue, and he likes pizza. His favourite movie is Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country. 

Staff of the week is Bonnie MacRae. She is an educational assistant at Blackville School. She is loved by everyone in the school. Bonnie enjoys traveling, eating pizza and watching Grey's Anatomy. Her favourite colour is green.

People's Picks (Nov. 2-6)

Staff member of the week is Tim Mountain. Tim's favourite show is The Dukes of Hazzard. Tim is a great bus driver and loves his new bus. His favourite type of music is country and he likes the colour red.
Student of the week is Alex Coughlan. Alex is currently a middle school student here at Blackville. Alex's favourite show is Pawn Stars. He loves good old country music. He also likes the colour red. His favourite type of snowmobile is Yamaha. 
Teacher of the week is Ms. Davidson. She is an amazing teacher that is loved by the students here at Blackville school. She enjoys the show The Walking Dead, and she also loves all kinds of music. Her favourite colour is blue.

New Mountain Bike Club Enjoys End of Season Run

The bikers all ready for their run.
Mr. Paul Mackinnon, a new staff member to the Physical Education Department at Blackville School, started a Mountain Bike Club this fall for grades 6, 7 and 8.

When he found out that he would be coming to Blackville School he was really excited because he wanted to start a bike club to teach young bikers the skills and how to drive a bike properly.

When he started at MVHS in 1998 he began a biking club and did it for the next 13 years. He enjoys teaching the students how to drive mountain bikes.

He has also taught grades 4 and 5 how to drive mountain bikes while teaching at MVHS.

The Mountain Biking Club met once a week this fall with regular attendance of 9-12 members.

Mackinnon provides bikes and helmets for each rider, but they are also allowed to bring their own bikes.

The bikers recently had an end of the season run to French Fort Cove on Thursday, October 22, 2015.

Student of the week is Jordan Curtis. She is a hard working student, and she does her best. Her favourite TV show is Jesse. She loves cucumbers and her favourite sport is soccer.






Teacher of the week is Mrs. Curtis. She is an amazing teacher and is loved by many of the students here at Blackville school. Mrs. Curtis is always there for her students and willing to help. Mrs. Curtis's favourite sport is hockey, and she loves pizza. Her favourite show is Love It or List It.




Staff member of the week is Ms. P. Underhill. Miss Underhill is a hard working vice principal and teacher. She is loved by many of the staff and students. Miss Underhill's favourite TV show is Heartland. Her favourite food is chocolate, and she likes walking.

Student of the week is Cassidy Brennan. She is a hard working student who tries her best. Her favourite food is pizza, and she loves the summer.  Cassidy is currently a grade 11 student from Blackville.


 Teacher of the week is Mr. Johnston.  He is originally from Sunny Corner but currently lives in Doaktown. In his words "Go, Cobras." Mr. Johnston's favourite season is fall, and he loves anything with curry. His favourite book is Barney's Version by Mordecai Richler.






Staff member of the week is Loretta Gorbett. She is loved by the students here at Blackville. She has a great sense of humour. Her favourite food is pizza, and she loves the summer. She is from Blackville and her favourite show is Vampire Diaries.

Student off the week is Amber Walls. Amber is a hard working student who tries her best in class. She is also respectful to teachers and fellow students.




 Teacher of the week is Ms. Duffy.  She works great with all of her students and is a respected teacher. She would like to thank all of her friends, family and students for being selected as teacher of the week. 






Staff member of the week is Ms. Breau. She is a great guidance counsellor and helps all students to the best of her ability. She is well liked by the students here at Blackville School.

Student of the Week is Samuel Brennan.  Sam is a hard
working student who tries his best in all of his classes.  He is also 
respectful and nice to all of his teachers and peers.  






Teacher of the Week is Mr. Norton.  Mr. Norton is a great all around teacher who is loved by all his students. He is also known for having a meter stick by his side at all times.





Staff of the week is Brent Wilson.  Brent is a janitor at Blackville School and works hard to keep our school clean.  He is also very polite and funny with students.

Student of the Week:

This week's student of the week goes out to Candace Purcell. Candace is a grade 12 student that was chosen by Mrs. C Underhill for her hard work as the student director for high school drama.







Teacher of the Week:

Teacher of the week this week goes out to Mrs. J Underhill. Mrs. Underhill is an English and History teacher, she was chosen by the high school students.  Mrs. Underhill studied at St. Thomas and at UNB. She said, " I love my job, how I teach at a small school, love the staff and teaching is lots of fun and I get to laugh everyday." During her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, watch her sons play hockey and watch her daughter perform in gymnastics.



Staff of the Week:

This week's staff of the week goes out to Gloria Kelly. Gloria is an Educational Assistant at Blackville School. We asked her what she likes best about her job and she told us, "working with the students." She studied at the Academy of Learning and in her spare time she likes to walk and read.

Student of the Week:

This week's student of the week goes to Bailey Curtis. Bailey is a grade 11 student, and he was chosen by Mr. Grattan. He was chosen because of his hard work in Applied Tech and how he comes to class on time.

Teacher of the Week:

This week's teacher of the week goes out to Ms. Walls. She is now a kindergarten teacher. We asked Ms. Walls what she likes best about her job, and she told us that she likes the students the best. We also asked her what she likes to do in her spare time and she said "crossword puzzles and singing in the church choir."

This week's staff of the week goes out to Jamie McNeil who is a staff member in the cafeteria. We asked Jamie what she likes best about her job and she said the students.
